Join the American Red Cross in Celebration of the 2011 Humanitarian of the Year by attending the luncheon honoring Mark Hagerman as a community-wide humanitarian and Alison Mansfield as the youth humanitarian. This program/luncheon begins 12:00 on May 3 at 1150 South Harrison Street.
The Humanitarian of the Year award, presented annually by the American Red Cross of Northeast Indiana, recognizes an individual or couple whose humanitarian contributions to our local community exemplify the principles of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement. The award finds focus in the first of these principles-Humanity.
Mark has a long history of philanthropic and civic involvement in our community. One of Mark's most admirable qualities is that whether serving as chairman of a board or providing encouragement and financial help to an ailing friend or employee, he desires no publicity or thanks, and a favor in return is never expected. His long history of business success combined with a generous and caring spirit make Mark a deserving candidate.
Homestead sophomore Alison Mansfield has been serving her community with Operation U.S. Troop Support since the age of 10. Having distributed more than 62,000 items to our troops, including small toys for soldiers to give to Afghan children, Alison has rallied Fort Wayne and communities around the US to give more than a quarter of a million dollars to make this all possible - having a significant impact on her peers and those she has helped to serve. If you can't attend the luncheon, but would like to be involved, become a sponsor. Available sponsorships include:
